Circle Conversation and Picnic: Community Care in Resistance and Crisis
What role can art play in community care in spaces/times of resistance? How can we grow and deepen our community care through the creative arts to be better prepared in times of crisis? Our current model for the arts is capitalistic and fraught with power imbalances. Art as a commodity is favoured over art created as part of an essential community practice. In the face of these oppressive structures, how are we able to reclaim the sanctity of creating and use it to soothe and nurture?
Join panelists Cease Wyss, Jillian Christmas, jaye simpson and Marcelo Ponce in a facilitated conversation where we can gather resources and imagine futures of artistic care.
