The Spirit of the Village Experience
6 PM

Activate joy and togetherness and experience The Spirit of the Village as a natural state of your Soul. Jacky will leave you feeling more connected with yourself and in harmony with our human, natural and spiritual community, as we share a common sense of belonging.

MEL VEE X – De Mule Ah De World
6:30 PM

De Mule Ah De World is a multimedia exploration of Black womanhood and the ways Black womanhood can decolonize, disrupt and interrogate narratives around nature, personhood and the land. The piece begins with me, Mel Vee X, pulling an extremely heavy load. Then spoken word audio begins to play and I attempt to dance while carrying the load. I stop suddenly and words are projected on to my body. Then I invite the audience to help carry the load with me so I can be freed to dance.

KIN BALAMThe Path Of The Jaguar
7 PM

The Path Of The Jaguar setlist integrates a positive hip hop lyrical message of hope, redemption, and greater change from a perspective of the streets and the experiences of struggle as a youth within Meso-American Indigenous instrumentation, Flamenco Classical inspired guitar, and Afro Latin rhythms.

BREAKING BORDERSThe Surge
Featuring Mariam Barry, Isidro Rodriguez, Sam Darkoh, Ishan Sandhu, and more!
7:30 PM

THE SURGE is an outdoor performance that brings a resurgence of new voices. Brought to you by Breaking Borders, THE SURGE explores narratives of migration, diaspora and border violence from the perspectives of newcomers to Canada. As artists, we are people of colour, immigrants and their descendants, migrant workers, refugees, and Visa-holders who create in multiple art forms. Join the revolution as we bring back art to the outside.

This event is taking place on the traditional, ancestral, and Unceded territories of the ʷməθkʷəy̓əm, sḵwx̱wú7mesh, and sel̓íl̓witulh Nations. In this we acknowledge that the land which gives refuge to many is the same land that is occupied and stolen from Indigenous peoples.

OLD SOUL REBEL
8 PM

Bold. Upbeat. Immense and Soulful is the cutting edge sound which is Old Soul Rebel. A powerhouse duo, coloured by brass and driven by drums, puts a brand new shine on soul and rock n roll. Check them out as finalists on CTV’s The Launch 2019.

INTERACTIVE ART INSTALLATION (ALL DAY)

KIMIT SEKHON (PAPERWAVE)Modular Functions

Modular origami polyhedrons made from poster board. Each piece is made of 30 identical units and is assembled without the use of glue or scissors. These pieces are paired with an interactive electronic music creation station. The artist will be available to teach guests how to make some of the units on display and aid with manipulation of the sound synthesis equipment.

JASON BEMPONG – I Am

This piece portrays the globe hovering over a dense group clouds with the words “I Am” behind the earth. This statement signifies that we are the Gaia. There will be two hands (one on each panel) reaching out of the clouds below to represent how we strive to manifest towards unity and peace. The image being split in two also represents the division we also experience today.
