Producer

JOB DESCRIPTION:

This is a part-time contract position that starts with minimal hours and gradually ramps up towards Vines 2019 Festival. The producer position is ideal for someone in the arts world that enjoys working with and managing artists and events. The producer works directly and in close contact with the Artistic Director. Vines is a growing organization and is looking forward to working with someone who can support our growth!

February and March: approx 15 hrs / month
April and May: approx 10 hrs / week
June, July, August(leading up to the festival): approx 15 hrs/week
Festival: August 7-18th Must be Available during this whole time

* Flexible hours other than during the festival, must be in Vancouver for the majority of the summer but can work around small summer holidays

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Communicating with Artists
  • Event Management
  • Handling Invoicing and Contracts
  • Support Artistic Director in creating the festival program
  • Coordinate with Technical Director and artists on all technical requirements
  • Assisting with sound operation during some performances
  • Liaising with Volunteer Coordinator and Stage Manager at larger events
  • Coordinate photographer, videographer and other support crew
  • Find Vendors for the event
  • Attend Production Meetings

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Stage Management or Event Management experience
  • Enthusiasm for environmental or social justice
  • Awareness of Indigenous world views
  • Proficient with Excel/Word
  • Strong communication skills
  • Effective leadership and management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple events/artists
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusiveness of all cultures
  • Writing skills

Communications Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Working closely with Vines Artistic Director you will be responsible for promoting the organization’s brand, as well as marketing our festival. This is a part time contract position with minimal hours at the start of the contract and hours ramping up as we approach the festival. The ideal candidate has a background in communications and marketing, including event promotions, social media, and website management.

February and March: approx 15 hrs / month
April and May: approx 10 hrs / week
June, July, August(leading up to the festival): approx 15 hrs/week

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement a general communications plan to increase its general presence and relevance in the community.
  • Coordinate design of marketing materials with graphic designer and Artistic Director
  • Plan and Implement ongoing social media activities, building online presence
  • Maintain and update website for upcoming festival, and produce regular email newsletters and blog posts
  • Plan and implement print and online advertising activities.
  • Connect with community partners
  • Manage physical distribution of event marketing materials, such as posters and postcards

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Enthusiasm for environmental or social justice and the Arts
  • Aware of Indigenous world views
  • Proficient with Excel/Word
  • Strong communication skills
  • Effective leadership and management skills
  • Strong knowledge of social media marketing and advertising techniques (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter etc…)
  • Some graphic design knowledge preferable
  • Experience working with culturally diverse communities.
  • Skilled in writing copy and editing
