SOUNDS LIKE GROWTH
SUNDAY, AUG 9 | 1 – 4PM
PANDORA PARK (2325 Franklin Street)

Near to X̱epx̱ápay̓ay (Squamish), which is at the intersection of Powell Street, Wall Street, and Semlin Drive

Sounds Like Growth in partnership with Jaz Whitford focuses on Indigenous food sovereignty and self-actualization. Food has always been an integral part of culture, survival and the future of many folks, especially within Indigenous communities.

We will host an event at Pandora Park for a casual food exchange and giveaway. We encourage other communities & neighborhoods who garden and forage wild foods to organize a food and knowledge exchange event to redistribute what they have, and to share knowledge on processing & preserving the foods they grow or find in their own communities on August 9th. In this way we can nurture food security and sustainability within our urban communities.

If you can come to Pandora Park bring something you have been growing or making and find something to take home – a casual hang out in the park. Please bring canned/packaged goods or food that can be washed before eaten due to COVID. Examples include: jams, pickled vegetables, salves, zucchinis, lettuce, carrots. Any food that is not exchanged will be donated to the DTES.

Before coming, listen to the Sonic Performance at Strathcona Park on food sovereignty which boasts the knowledge and generosity of Indigenous ethnobotanists and traditional food harvesting.
